About Özgür Haran
Özgür Haran is a passionate and accomplished tuba player, dedicated to redefining the role of the tuba and showcasing its expressive potential to diverse audiences. Özgür began his musical journey as a pianist before transitioning to the tuba in 2017, joining the prestigious tuba program at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts.
During his undergraduate studies, Özgür performed with ensembles such as the Bilkent Youth Symphony Orchestra, Agora Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Antalya State Symphony Orchestra. He also developed leadership skills as the musical director of the Bilkent Musical Team, where he contributed to various musical projects.
In 2021, Özgür expanded his musical horizons through the Erasmus+ program at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg in Germany. Under the guidance of renowned tubists Heiko Triebener and Carsten Vollmuth, he refined his skills and broadened his perspective on tuba performance. During this time, he performed with Ernst Oestreicher's wind orchestra, gaining valuable experience in a professional setting.
Currently, Özgür is pursuing a master’s degree at Conservatorium Maastricht under the tutelage of Hans Nickel. He is also a member of the Maas Tuba Trio, an ensemble based in Maastricht, which has provided further opportunities to perform and collaborate with other talented musicians. Since moving to the Netherlands, Özgür has performed with several wind bands, including Harmony Orchestra Maastricht, and collaborated with Crazy 6, an ensemble that brought his music to audiences in Belgium and the Netherlands. He has also performed with wind bands across Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft.
In addition to ensemble work, Özgür has given numerous solo recitals across Turkey and Europe, highlighting his technical mastery and artistic expression. With a deep commitment to excellence, he continues to explore new ways to connect with audiences and elevate the tuba’s unique voice in the world of music. Özgür Haran’s goal is to inspire audiences worldwide by showcasing the tuba’s immense potential and breaking stereotypes surrounding the instrument. Through innovative performances, collaborations, and educational initiatives, he strives to make the tuba a celebrated and versatile voice in the world of music, connecting with audiences across all genres and backgrounds.
